Vi Foundation and Ericsson Launch Robotsav Website to Expand Robotics and AI Education

The push for grassroots tech education just got a much-needed structural upgrade.

India’s STEM education system still faces a major gap. Students can learn theoretical concepts from textbooks, but applying those ideas to real-world projects is much harder.

Bridging that gap requires more than just surface-level funding; it requires accessible, scalable infrastructure.

This is the challenge that the Vi Foundation, the CSR arm of Vodafone Idea, and Ericsson are addressing through their new initiative, Robotsav.

Dubbed the “Festival of Technology,” the project was developed in collaboration with the Moinee Foundation. It introduces a digital platform designed to expand access to next-generation technology skills.

Officially rolled out in July 2026, the focus is hyper-specific: getting Generative AI, virtual reality, 3D printing, and core programming directly into the hands of students who might otherwise be priced out of the tech revolution.

How the Robotsav Platform Actually Works

What makes this rollout effective from an educational architecture standpoint is its asynchronous, user-driven design.

We already know that forced, rigid curriculums often kill early interest in complex subjects like programming or machine learning. To counter this, the Robotsav website operates as a completely open, self-paced ecosystem. Students log in and dictate their own learning velocity.

If a user wants to spend weeks deconstructing the mechanics of 3D printing before ever touching Generative AI structures, the platform accommodates that friction-free exploration.

By integrating VR and AI into these foundational modules, the program moves students past passive consumption.

They aren’t just watching localized tutorials; they are engaging with the actual frameworks that power modern tech industries.

It effectively strips away the geographical and financial barriers that typically gatekeep high-level robotics labs, allowing students to build their technical toolkits entirely on their own terms, at their own speed.

Moving Beyond the Screen for Digital India

Digital learning has a hard ceiling. You can’t master robotics entirely behind a monitor eventually, the code has to make physical hardware move.

Recognizing this limitation, the Robotsav program doesn’t stop at the website interface. The initiative is actively gearing up for a series of offline competitions scheduled over the coming months.

This hybrid approach is important. It encourages students to take the digital concepts they have learned and apply them in practical, collaborative environments.

Ambika Khurana, Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer at Vodafone Idea, explained the broader strategy. She noted that the initiative supports the larger “Digital India” mission.

Khurana noted that hands-on exposure to these emerging technologies is the exact catalyst needed to spark genuine curiosity and confidence.

The end game here isn’t just to teach a handful of kids how to write basic scripts.

Instead, the objective is to create an accessible, nationwide platform for young innovators. It aims to turn early curiosity into a lasting interest in STEM.
