WATER Raises $2.5 Million Seed Funding Led by Endiya Partners

We spend our lives molding our bodies to fit static objects. Whether it’s hunching over a rigid desk chair or tossing on an unresponsive mattress, the physical environment rarely adapts to human biomechanics.

Hyderabad-based bio-physical AI startup WATER is trying to reverse this dynamic, and their ambitious approach just earned significant venture backing.

The deeptech company has successfully raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by early-stage venture capital firm Endiya Partners.

The strategic round also pulled in high-profile participation from national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, alongside prominent angel investors like Rohit Chennamaneni and Nandan Reddy.

Launched in 2024 by co-founders Teja Vinukollu and Haneesh Mourya Desu, WATER is stepping away from the crowded software-as-a-service space to build something highly tangible: adaptive intelligent surfaces.

How VORTEX Powers Adaptive Intelligent Surfaces

To understand what WATER is building, you have to look past the standard concept of “smart furniture.” The core engine driving the company is VORTEX, a proprietary foundational model trained specifically to understand how the human body interacts with the physical environment.

Here is how the technology actually operates on a hardware level. Traditional ergonomics rely on passive, manual adjustmentsvyou pull a lever to change your lumbar support.

WATER’s technology uses active, continuous intelligence. The products operate on a three-tier system: real-time sensing, instant machine decision-making, and physical actuation.

Take the startup’s FLOW chair. Rather than sitting rigidly, the chair continuously reads how a user’s weight is distributed. It tracks shifts in posture, movement frequency, and physical load during a seated session, triggering internal micro-actuators to physically adapt the surface and support the spine dynamically.

The CAMA bed applies this exact same VORTEX intelligence to horizontal rest, utilizing sensors to monitor respiration patterns, sleep cycles, and recovery metrics, constantly adjusting the sleep surface to optimize physical restoration.

With the fresh $2.5 million in capital, the founders are dedicating resources to rigorous technical validation. However, the roadmap extends far beyond office spaces and bedrooms.

The VORTEX model is designed to be a universal intelligence layer that can be integrated into high-stakes environments.

The company is already targeting the automotive and aviation sectors, where adaptive surfaces could theoretically reduce driver fatigue on the road or mitigate musculoskeletal strain during long-haul flights.

Physical AI as the New Deeptech Frontier

While adaptive surfaces represent a highly nascent market in India, WATER’s funding is part of a much larger, aggressive wave of investments flooding into the physical AI sector. Venture capital is increasingly hunting for deeptech startups that blend artificial intelligence with physical automation, robotics, and hardware.

The recent tech deal flow across the country highlights this rapid shift. Invisel recently secured Rs 4 crore led by the IAN Angel Fund, while Bengaluru-based Mowito raised $3 million in pre-seed capital to build physical AI foundation models tailored specifically for industrial robots. Heavy industries are seeing similar tech integrations.

Flo Mobility closed a $2.5 million pre-Series A round to scale AI-driven autonomous tech for construction sites, and Yaanendriya locked in Rs 15 crore to advance sensing and autonomous control for aerospace applications.

What makes WATER’s entry into this ecosystem notable is its strict focus on human-centric environments. Rather than automating industrial tasks or heavy machinery, they are automating physical comfort and biological recovery.

If the underlying technology scales according to plan, it could fundamentally change how hardware manufacturers across multiple sectors approach product design, shifting the baseline expectation from static usability to dynamic, AI-driven responsiveness.
